Sophie Calle is the classic french enigma, witty and intellectual but also frustrating. Original thinking is always to be applauded and what she does is original, although some of it feels derivative and she might argue thats the point. I'm not usually a fan of this kind of art because in the end I'm a painter and this type of work doesn't provide the solidity that a painting does at the end of the process. However her ideas are quite often so clearly defined that there feels like an object exists at the end of the process even when there isn't. I like her witt and mystery.
